Information and the truth

Summary

Salesforce professionals should be cautious when relying on information generated by AI, as its intelligence operates in ways that can feel alien and are not fully understood. While AI offers valuable content creation capabilities, especially for consultants, not all generated information is truthful or reliable. It's essential to critically evaluate AI outputs and invest effort in verifying data accuracy. Understanding this dynamic can help Salesforce teams better leverage AI tools while maintaining data quality and trust.

Takeaways
  • Recognize AI-generated information may not always be accurate or truthful.
  • Treat AI as a foreign intelligence, not fully understandable or controllable.
  • Invest resources to verify and validate data from AI sources.
  • Leverage AI carefully as a Salesforce consultant to enhance but not blindly trust content.
  • Understand that truth is costly and rare, requiring effort to obtain reliably.

These days, we have instant access to data generated by anyone from anywhere in the world. And until recently, all information was only generated by humans. However now we have a new content creator, AI. I recently watched a video by Yuval Noah Harari titled, “ Why advanced societies fall for mass delusion “. It’s incredibly thought provoking. He believes we should redefine AI from “Artificial Intelligence” to “Alien Intelligence”. With the former definition, we feel like we are still in control. But this is not true anymore. The latter definition indicates the intelligence we created is alien to us. We simply don’t understand exactly how it arrives at its conclusions. (Please keep in mind that in this context, “alien” simply means “foreign”. Don’t think of little green men). As a Salesforce consultant, AI can be a valuable asset. But we also need to be weary of the content it creates and the influence this data has over us. Not all information is true.
