Winter ’24 Release Pt. 1- New Custom Report Types
The Winter ’24 Salesforce release introduces three new custom report types that simplify how admins and consultants can view sharing and access in Salesforce. These report types enable easy visibility into Account sharing, Permission Set assignments, and Public Group or Queue memberships without navigating multiple setup pages. Leveraging these report types helps Salesforce teams streamline security auditing and user permission reviews through reports. Admins can now build reports to efficiently manage access controls and user assignments across their orgs.
- Use Account Share report type to view users with shared access to Account records.
- Leverage Permission Set Assignment report type to quickly audit Permission Set and Group assignments.
- Use Group Member report type to report on users belonging to Public Groups and Queues.
- These report types reduce navigation by consolidating access data into single views.
- Group reports by user, permission set, or group to simplify permission auditing.
With the upcoming Winter ’24 release we are being given three new useful custom report types. Let’s take a look brief look at each. Account Share This report type allows us to see which users can access Account records that have been shared with them both manually and via Account Teams. This allows us not to have to click into each individual Account to see sharing hierarchy. Use Account Share as the primary object for your custom report type. Permission Set Assignment Navigating into setup then having multiple clicks to get into a Permission Set assignment screen can be a tedious process. We are now able to view all Permission Set and Permission Set Group assignment in reports. Grouping these by Permission Set, Permission Set Group or by User makes it much quicker to identify who has what assignments . Use Permission Set Assignment as the primary object in your custom report type.
